| DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCT ORDER CONTROL SYSTEMS FOR METALLURGIC COMPANY | |

Customer International metallurgic company with embassies in 44 countries of the world and manpower of more than 100 thousand people. The company’s activity is based on getting and further processing of non-ferrous metals. Situation After the company had bought 2 Russian plants, it needed software for logistics department which would allow head organization based in the USA to control all stages of order run in Russian embassy on a real-time basis. The customer paid special attention to information safety, fault withstandability, high speed of information processing and transmission, favorable user interface and system ranging opportunities. Internationality of company’s activity determined additional development features. For instance, translation of the system into English and German and adaptation to different time zones of the project members. The Andersen solution To achieve set goals a project team of the Andersen specialists and the metallurgic company employees was created. Their joint actions allowed to understand the customer’s requests and work out a system, which would comply with the requirements. The Andersen specialists analyzed advantages of the existing system, pointed out needs of users and the company’s top-management. Later on the ground of requirements a technical task was set up. We also shaped and prototyped software which included various technical project implementations to obtain effective speed of data processing and transmission. To work out the system we chose .NET è Web Services technologies, which could provide the required system scalability level, cut development expenses and system operation cost. The specialists worked out the project in Minsk and Moscow. Videoconferences and daily team reports made surgical changes in system requirements and managerial control over progress of work possible. In a few months of work on the project beta test of the system was started in Russian embassies of the company. It allowed to optimize user interface and correct mistakes. Besides we integrated financial module of the system with Oracle EBS set up in the Netherlands. This gave the company’s high-level officials an opportunity to get consolidated statements on the whole European region on a real-time basis. Project results Time of order processing was reduced by 15%. The chain of order transmission became shorter. Nomination of the project on corporate prize “The best project of the year”. After a half year of system operation in Russian embassy of the company, Andersen got an order to introduce this system in 4 other company’s European embassies. System operation showed that its reliability and usability are competitive to Oracle EBS installed in other company’s embassies.
